Upload photos

Goal: bulk-upload photos (and PDFs) into a gallery.

Prerequisites

  • A gallery to upload into — see Create a gallery if you haven't made one yet.
  • Enough storage headroom in your plan. If an upload would push your company over its quota, it's rejected with a "Storage limit reached" message instead of partially uploading.
  1. Open the gallery from Photos, which lands you on the Photos tab of the gallery.
  2. Drag and drop files onto the upload area, or click browse files to pick them from your computer.
  3. Each file uploads individually with its own progress indicator; you can keep adding more files while earlier ones are still uploading.
  4. As soon as a file finishes uploading it appears in the photo grid with a spinner in place of a thumbnail — that's normal, see the note below.

Accepted file types

The uploader accepts: JPEG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, TIFF, PDF, Apple's HEIC/HEIF (no need to switch your iPhone out of its default photo format), common camera RAW formats (CR2/CR3, NEF/NRW, ARW, DNG, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF, SRW, and others), and PSD/PSB. Each file can be up to 500 MB.

A photo doesn't have a real thumbnail the moment it's uploaded — it's picked up by the background process queue first. Until that finishes, you'll see a spinner instead of the image. See How thumbnails are built for what happens and how long it takes.
PDFs get their own icon in the grid rather than a photo thumbnail, and open in a new tab when clicked instead of the photo lightbox.

Rotating a photo

Click a photo to open it in the lightbox, then use the  /  buttons in the top-left to turn it 90° left or right. The rotation is saved to the stored photo and its thumbnail is rebuilt in the background, so clients and downloads see the corrected orientation too. JPEGs are rotated without any loss of quality where possible. RAW, PSD, and HEIC files rotate the preview image that galleries display — the original file offered for download is left as-is. PDFs can't be rotated.

The turn runs as a background job, so the lightbox shows a spinner and the new image usually appears within a minute or two — see How thumbnails are built.

Viewing a photo's info (EXIF)

Click a photo to open it in the lightbox, then click the info button to see the camera details recorded in the file: camera and lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, flash, white balance, the date it was taken, dimensions, and a location link when the photo carries GPS coordinates. Rows with no data for that photo are simply left out.

This panel is admin-only, read-only, and works independently of your company's own EXIF metadata settings — it's for looking at whatever the camera already wrote into the file, not for embedding anything new. Reordering photos

Click and drag a photo onto another one in the grid to move it there — the grid re-flows immediately and the new order saves automatically in the background, no separate save step needed. This is the same order your client sees when they view the gallery.

Removing a photo

Hover a photo and click the small button in its corner, then confirm. This deletes the file and its thumbnail from storage — it cannot be undone.

Adding videos to a gallery

You can mix videos in with the photos. On the gallery's Photos tab, click Add videos to attach videos from a collection and pick the ones you want. Attached videos behave like part of the gallery:

  • Videos must already be in one of this client's published video collections.
  • They show before the photos on every link to the gallery, including the client portal and share links.
  • They are included in Download All (unless downloads are turned off for the gallery or for that video's collection).
  • Removing a video from a gallery only detaches it — the video stays in its collection.
