QR codes

Goal: generate a scannable QR code for a shortlink (or any other link or text) and download it as an image.

Prerequisites

  • At least one shortlink already created — see Public shortlinks. QR codes are generated from an existing shortlink's URL, they don't create the link themselves.

Getting a QR code for a shortlink

  1. Open the gallery or collection's Shortlinks tab.
  2. Find the shortlink's row in the table and click the button in the QR column.
  3. A modal opens showing the QR code as an image, with the link's full URL printed underneath it.
  4. Click Download in the modal to save the QR code as a PNG file.

This works the same way for a photo gallery shortlink and a video collection shortlink — both use the same modal and the same QR/Download pattern, just generated from their own gallery or collection page.

The QR code always encodes the shortlink's current URL, so it's tied to that specific link and inherits whatever expiry, password, and download settings that link has. If you delete the shortlink, a previously downloaded QR code image will still exist on your computer, but scanning it will no longer work.

Generating a QR code for anything else

Need a QR code that isn't tied to a shortlink — for a printed flyer linking to your website, or just to encode some text? Go to Tools → QR Generator, paste in any link or text, choose a size, and the same preview-and-download pattern appears: a live preview image with a Download button next to it.

The general-purpose generator in Tools accepts up to 2048 characters of text, not just URLs — useful for anything scannable, not only shortlinks.
