Versioning & approval
Goal: upload revised versions of a video and let your client approve the final cut, locking further comments until you re-open or upload another version.
Prerequisites
- A published collection with at least one video uploaded.
Uploading a new version
Once a video is in a collection, you can upload a revised version without replacing the original. The old version is kept — both you and the client can switch between them to compare.
- Open the video from Videos → [Collection] → [video].
- Click Upload new version above the player.
- Select a video file and confirm. The new version is added as v2, v3, etc.
Version switcher
A dropdown above the player labelled v3 (latest) ▾ lets you switch between versions. Older versions are read-only — you can watch them and see their comments, but you cannot post new comments on a past version.
Client approval
When the client is happy with the final version, they can click Approve Video beside the comment box on their video view. This locks commenting on all versions of that video:
- Existing comments remain visible.
- The comment form is replaced by a banner: ✓ Approved by [Name] on [date].
- New comments are rejected server-side.
Re-opening comments
If more changes are needed after approval:
- Upload a new version — approval is automatically cleared and comments re-enabled.
- Re-open manually — both you and the client can click the re-open button in the approval banner. A confirmation modal is shown, and all parties are notified.
Grid badges
The video grid shows two badges on each tile:
- v2 / v3 etc. — how many versions exist.
- Approved (green) — the video has been approved by the client.
