Publish & downloads

Goal: make a video collection visible to its client, and control whether videos and subtitles can be downloaded.

Prerequisites

  • A collection with at least one video — see Upload videos if it's still empty.

Publishing a collection

  1. Open Videos and find the collection in the list or grid view.
  2. Click the button in its row (list view) or open the collection and click Publish at the top of the page (detail view).
  3. The collection's status badge switches from Draft to Published, and the client is notified.

A collection that isn't published yet shows a banner on its detail page: "This collection is not published — clients cannot see it yet." Publishing removes the banner and activates any shortlinks created for the collection.

Unpublishing takes a collection offline — it's no longer visible to the client or through its share link — but the collection and every video in it are kept, so you can publish it again later without re-uploading anything.

Turning downloads on or off

From the collection's Options tab, toggle Disable downloads. When it's on, download controls are hidden on both the client view and any public shortlink page for that collection — this doesn't affect your own admin access, where Download Video and Download Subtitles buttons are always available on a video's page.

Downloads are controlled per collection, not per video — there's no way to allow downloads for some videos in a collection but not others.

Client approval

Once the client is happy with a video, they can approve it, which locks further comments. Uploading a new version or manually re-opening clears approval. See Versioning & approval for the full workflow.

Sharing without a client login

Each collection (and each individual video within it) can also have its own shortlink — a token-based URL you can send directly, optionally password-protected and with its own download and expiry settings, independent of the collection's own downloads toggle. See Public shortlinks for details.
